JULIUS CAESAR
Text: WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Direction: ARTHUR NAUZYCIEL
Conspiracy, assassination, William Shakespeare's play, transposed to America in the 60s, is brought to life by 13 American actors and a jazz trio.
Arthur Nauzyciel's reinterpretation invites us to reflect on the mechanisms of power and the fragility of democracy.
At the height of his power, Julius Caesar reigned over Rome. In the shadows of the palaces and forums, a group of republicans, led by Brutus, unite in a fatal plot to assassinate the dictator.
Daring and tumultuous, political and treacherous: Arthur Nauzyciel's staging, which premiered in Boston in 2008, transcends time as if to better focus on the characters, their complex motivations and their inner struggles.

In the Press
"Rarely has theater reached such heights of thoughtful emotion as in this Julius Caesar."
- Le Monde, Brigitte Salino
"Applauded, acclaimed and praised in France in 2009, the play, directed by Arthur Nauzyciel with a quiet genius seasoned by a jazzy gesture, has rarely been staged with such elegant irony."
