From 21 to 23 March 2025, JK Opole Theatre will once again host its annual Showcase. This year’s edition is particularly special as it coincides with the theatre’s 50th anniversary. The program includes a selection of recent premieres from Opole—featuring three major productions alongside a work by a promising young director.
These performances, made accessible to an international audience with English subtitles, will be accompanied by guest productions and a jazz concert.
The Showcase is a possibility to experience the repertoire of the JK Opole Theatre over three days, as well as to see exclusive, guest performances from specially invited productions.
The program includes two of the theatre’s latest premieres: Top Dog, directed by Marcin Liber, a stage adaptation of the cult Polish film and screenplay by Feliks Falk, exploring the highs and lows of the pursuit of success; and IT-1, directed by Wera Makowskx, which examines human relationships in the context of artificial intelligence.
Additionally, the Showcase will present outstanding productions from previous years, including The Tempest. Island Regulations, inspired by William Shakespeare and directed by Katarzyna Minkowska, which won the Golden Yorick Award at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival, as well as I’m Nowhere / Desvanecimiento, an international co-production directed by Norbert Rakowski that delves into the theme of euthanasia.
This year’s edition will also feature the Italian production MADRE (MOTHER), created and performed by Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari, Stefano Ricci, and Daniela Roccato from Albe/Ravenna Teatro, along with III Symfonia, a choreographic work by Janusz Orlik set to the music of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.
Complementing the theatre program will be a jazz guitar concert by Paweł Krawiec Trio.
