On 16th and 17th April in the Chamber Hall of the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov”, the premiere of “Final step” took place.
The performance is based on the repeatedly republished debut novel Final Step by Yordan Slaveykov and is directed by the writer himself. Along with the composer Hristo Namliev, this artwork starts its journey with the set design of Teodor Kyriakov and Nicole Trendafilova’s costumes. The cast includes Veselin Mezekliev, Velislav Pavlov, Vyara Tabakova, Eva Tepavicharova and Yordan Varbanov, which are forming a family that’s swinging between their unfulfilled loves, ugly secrets, acts of sorrow and the hope for better days.
Their story unfolds what was left unsaid over the years between the members of the family. Now or never they’ll try to seek and offer forgiveness. For the first time, they voice painful secrets, harsh truths, and bleeding memories. And those scattered survivors will take the final step on their way back home, while standing somewhere between life and death, at the edge of reality and delirium.
Yordan Slaveykov is a Bulgarian actor, director, writer and educator. He graduated in Theatre Directing from NATFA in 2006 under Prof. Krikor Azaryan. Collaborating with Aneliya Yaneva as dramaturg of the production and Boryana Miteva as his assistant, his artwork finds its place on the chamber stage of the National theatre in Sofia, Bulgaria.
