European Theatre Talks
The Roadmap to Cutting-Edge, Net-Zero Theatre by 2030
Can you put on spectacular shows and wow audiences with AI, holographic projects and VR -- and still fulfil sustainable requirements of the European Green Deal and the Opole Recommendations?
This edition of the European Theatre Talks explores themes at the intersection of sustainability, new technologies, cultural policy and freedom of expression, at the heart of the Festival d'Avignon, to officially launch the ETC Theatre Green Book, the one reference tool for all theatres to become green across all their work, whether digital, large-scale, on their building, or in their logistics.
Features interventions from:
- Georg Häusler, European Commission (EU)
- Cláudia Belchior, Centro Cultural de Belém (Portugal)
- András Dömötör, Director (Hungary)
- Paddy Dillon, Renew Culture / Theatre Green Book (UK)
- Lisa Burger, Renew Culture / Theatre Green Book (UK)
- Paulien Geerlings, De Toneelmakerij (The Netherlands)
- Emmanuelle Lejeune, STAGES (EU)
- Florence Minder, Venedig Meer (Belgium)
- Johann Otten, Deutsches Theater Berlin (Germany)
- Jonathan Thonon, Théâtre de Liège (Belgium)
- Heidi Wiley, European Theatre Convention (EU)
- + more speakers to be announced
Moderated by: Emily Gonneau, Causa
The event will be attended by renowned European artists, policymakers, theatre professionals, and media representatives.
ETC Networking Lunch Reception
Join ETC’s reception before the European Theatre Talks to meet international theatre makers – working on everything from cutting-edge digital performances to socially-charged, sustainable theatre – for informal networking and a drink.
The invited guests are drawn from ETC Member Theatres; partners in EU-funded, large-scale sustainable theatre projects (ACuTe, STAGES, PROSPERO and Future Laboratory); and emerging theatre-makers taking part in ETC’s European Theatre Academy.
