ANTIDOTE: Countering Manipulations Through Art and Innovation

Dakh Theatre - Centre of Contemporary Art

CCA "DAKH" and GOGOLFEST invite European theatre institutions to collaborate on "ANTIDOTE", a multidisciplinary project that uses art and innovation to resist societal manipulation and build resilience in the face of crises.

From exploring propaganda’s psychological impacts to addressing social polarization, the project fuses cutting-edge technology, interactive performances, and educational initiatives to inspire audiences and foster cross-border dialogue.

Antidote: Combating Manipulations through Art and Collaboration

In a world where disinformation fragments societies, manipulations distort narratives, and information itself becomes a weapon, the socio-cultural project "Antidote" offers a proactive solution. Ukraine, at the forefront of a hybrid war, has developed a unique understanding of resisting information attacks, making it a critical voice in the global fight against fake narratives and societal polarization.

What is Antidote?
"Antidote" is a platform that fosters resilience to disinformation by combining art, education, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Its mission is twofold:

1. Internally: Strengthen societal unity in Ukraine by countering manipulative narratives and reducing tensions.
2. Externally: Develop global networks to combat the spread of destructive ideologies and build resistance against information warfare.

Through artistic experiences, we aim to create a form of "vaccination" for audiences—arming them with tools to recognize and resist future propaganda.

How We Achieve This

Artistic projects serve as the core of our approach, offering immersive experiences that resonate on both emotional and intellectual levels. These projects act as a "vaccine," enabling audiences to:

Understand Manipulative Tactics: Recognize the structures and strategies behind disinformation.
Build Critical Awareness: Develop immunity to the emotional triggers and false narratives used to divide communities.
Foster Collective Resilience: Strengthen societal bonds through shared cultural experiences and a commitment to democratic values.

How Does It Work?

The project uses diverse tools and methods to engage communities and develop practical strategies for building resilience:

Education: Providing resources and training to enhance critical information literacy.
Collaborations: Organizing networking sessions, conferences, and cross-sectoral initiatives that share best practices and foster collective solutions.
Creative Formats: Using the arts to explore experimental methodologies for societal interaction and engagement.
Media Campaigns: Raising awareness and promoting narratives of unity and democratic values.

Why is Antidote Important?

In times of growing global division, there’s an urgent need to counter manipulative tactics that erode trust and solidarity. "Antidote" not only addresses these challenges but also actively promotes the creation of new societal models that protect democratic principles and foster collaboration.

This initiative is rooted in creativity and inclusivity, welcoming individuals and organizations from diverse fields, including artists, journalists, educators, scientists, philosophers, and cultural institutions. It emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and shared experiences in building a united front against disinformation.
