You are warmly invited to the Opening Night of Snow Negatives, a unique co-production by members of the European Theatre Convention:
- 3 countries
- 3 stories
- 2 stages
- 1 extraordinary experience
Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava (Slovakia), Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Opole (Poland), and the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in Dortmund (Germany) present a powerful new perspective on the horrors of World War II, marking the 80th anniversary of its end.
This production brings to life the real stories of Stefan Lux, Jewish actor from Deutsches Theater, partisan photographer Faye Schulman from Poland, and Slovak resistance fighters Alfred Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, who escaped a concentration camp to share a testimony that shook the world. The play raises critical questions: How do artists fight fascism? Can shocking truths be trusted? Isn’t the lack of interest our greatest enemy?
The performance takes place simultaneously in Trnava (SK) and Opole (PL), with a live stream from each theatre broadcast in the other. Combining theatre and film techniques, the production also features Lux, a short film shot also at Deutsches Theater, as an integral part of the experience.
The performance is created by young artists led by director Dávid Paška, a fresh graduate of Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.
