How Theatre Can Have Meaningful Dialogue with Local Communities: Lessons from Future Laboratory

ETC Press Corps Event

The European Theatre Convention (ETC) invites journalists working on the performing arts and topics related to inclusion to a special ETC Press Corps event on Tuesday 25 February 2025, from 14:00 to 14:45 CET (online).**

This exclusive event will be the official launch for ‘Future Laboratory: Artistic Research in Theatre – A Casebook’, the latest casebook published by ETC. This publication shares learning on developing meaningful dialogue between artists and local communities, following the 3-year EU-funded project ‘Future Laboratory – A Performing Arts Network Connecting Artists and Audiences to Find the European Narratives of Tomorrow’.

Topics covered by the Casebook include:

  • ‘Removing Social Barriers to Theatre’
  • ‘Coaching as Intensive Listening’
  • ‘Green Spaces Reimagined’
  • ‘Contemporary Ethnic Minorities: The Perspective of a Researcher’

The session will also include reflection on the importance of empowering early career artists and investment in the next generation.

This event is a must-attend for journalists covering theatre and performing arts across Europe and partners working on inclusion, diversity and accessibility. Join us to discover the best practice for artistic research for theatres and explore how the lessons from the casebook can inspire better dialogue with local communities in wider sectors.
