Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg & Théâtre de Liège
March 2023
We are thrilled to announce that the Théâtre de Liège is hosting the 'On ne badine pas avec l’amour’ play produced by our Luxemburgish ETC partner, Les Théatres de la Ville de Luxembourg!
The Théâtre de Liège will welcome five performances of this play by Alfred de Musset between 15 – 18 March 2023.
Laurent Delvert masterfully stages the reunion of Camille and Perdican with contemporary flair, surrounded by a dynamic cast of choir, priest, baron, governor and housekeeper all gathered for their upcoming wedding.
But, to everyone's dismay, the two lovers resist and immediately begin a battle of hearts. They have not seen each other since childhood, one has gone to university, the other to the best convent in France.
When they were young and innocent, they loved each other, they seemed to be made for each other; all they had to do was follow the path that leads to happiness. But they have grown up, learned, and now use their minds to protect themselves from life's dangers. In search of themselves, the young people do not limit their duel to words, and arouse jealousy in order to clash more. Rosette, a naive, uneducated country girl, becomes the victim of this cruel game.
It was in 1834, after a passionate relationship with George Sand, that Alfred de Musset wrote the story of this ceremony, which began in joy and ended in tragedy, because love is no laughing matter.
Questioning the concept of love, this international cast captivates audiences with its sensitivity and the beauty of its message. This is a show that fully deserves to be seen internationally!
