A semi-opera by Henry Purcell and John Dryden, rewritten by Ewald Palmetshofer with music recomposed by Kenneth Winkler. This Austrian premiere at the Tiroler Landestheater blends love and war in a mythical setting. As the legendary King Arthur seeks to free Britain from Saxon invaders, his beloved Emmeline is kidnapped, setting off a chase through a ghostly forest. Amid illusions and deceit, Arthur must confront his ultimate enemy, Oswald, in a final battle. The production blends myth, reality, and fairy tale, with innovative sound design and choreography. It brings a timeless story into the present.
