The Serbian National Theatre, established in 1861, is the most significant and oldest theatre in Serbia. It consists of three artistic departments: Drama, Opera, and Ballet.
The yearly theatre production is held across three stages: the Jovan Djordjevic stage, which is the largest in the region with 935 seats; the Pera Dobrinovic stage
with 373 seats; and the Camera stage with 118 seats. The three artistic departments, with 350 employed artists and over 100 artistic collaborators, perform over 400 diverse theatre performances of Drama, Opera, and Ballet, as well as numerous guest performances in the region.
In terms of international cooperation, the Serbian National Theatre participates in projects co-funded by the EU and regularly hosts guest performances in the Regional countries (ex-Yugoslav Republics, Romania, Hungary, Austria, etc.).
