The Cyprus Theatre Organisation was founded in 1971 and has been operating for almost 50 years. The Cyprus Theatre Organisation emphasises a wide range of activities and has an international orientation. The Cyprus Theatre Organisation also has a dual focus:
Theatre Performances
Distribution on four stages:
- Main stage: large productions of classical, modern and antique drama
- New Stage: studio theatre productions to promote creativity
- 0-18 Level: Plays for children and teenagers
- Apothikes: specially created projects for diversity and experimental work
Department for Theatre Development
- Promotion of professional theatre, international cooperation, promotion of dramaturgy
- Workshops, seminars, lectures and other theatre related events
- Festivals
- Support of theatre in education
- Support of amateur theatre
- Participation in European programmes for education, outreach, intercultural exchange, multiculturalism
- Theatre practices and cooperation with the Cyprus Theatre Museum
- Subsidisation of theatre Groups, Unions and Societies
- Networking in matters of theatre
