Teatro Nazionale di Genova is one of the oldest and most relevant theatre institutions in Italy. Founded in 1951, it has been engaging and inspiring audiences with theatrical productions that range from the classics to new works for more than 70 years.
Guided by internationally acclaimed theatre and opera director Davide Livermore since 2020, Teatro Nazionale di Genova runs four different theatre venues, located in key points of the city of Genoa: Teatro Ivo Chiesa (1000 seats), Teatro Eleonora Duse (473 seats), Teatro Gustavo Modena (the only XIX century theatre left in Genoa, 500 seats) and Sala Mercato (205 seats).
It trains a new generation of artists through its own Acting School, considered one of the most prestigious drama academies in Italy. Teatro Nazionale di Genova has co-production partnerships with important Italian and European theater institutions.
