After the COVID-19 crisis, we imagined we’d find a new world – one that is more inclusive, more resilient, and more sustainable.

We’re now living in this new world. Has it changed for the better?

And can we build a more engaging future together?

AFTER THE WORLD: The Theatre of Tomorrow, our upcoming ETC International Theatre Conference, will be organised and hosted by Théâtre de Liège (Belgium) from 01 – 06 November 2024.

With a strong focus on digital theatre, the conference will take place alongside the Théâtre de Liège’s IMPACT Festival on performing arts and new technology. Attendees will enjoy the best of both events, meeting a range of invited guests and artists through a carefully curated professional platform, alongside performances from East Asia that blur the boundaries between theatre and technology.

The conference will also be the first introduction to ETC - EUROPEAN THEATRE: BREAK THE MOULD, ETC's major new programme. This is a chance to discover all of the grants, networking and international collaboration opportunities available to artists and ETC members over the next four years!

The full ETC Conference programme will include:

  • Conference panels on the links between digital and sustainable theatre
  • The launch of ETC’s programme for the next four years, including a new digital theatre programme with the Academy for Theatre and Digitality, major sustainability initiatives as part of the ETC Theatre Green Book (ETC TGB), and a focus on the next generation of theatre makers, diversity in theatre, and advocating for European theatre
  • An artistic showcase of exhibitions, dance, theatre, artist pitches and parties through IMPACT Festival, with 7 productions from South Korea, Switzerland, France and Belgium
  • Performances by Kwon Byungjun, winner of the prestigious Korea Art Prize 2023, who presents his work for the first time in Europe; Eun-Me Ahn, one of the most highly-regarded dance artists in South Korea; and interventions from Kyu Choi, Artistic Director of Seoul Performing Arts Festival 2022-2026
  • The 3rd edition of the European Theatre Talks, the meeting of high-profile policy representatives and artists.

The programme promises a dynamic mix of artistic, professional and networking events on the key topics that define our new world. Attendees will also be invited to attend the ACuTe Symposium 2024, learning from the cutting-edge cross-Europe project on new technologies

More information on IMPACT 2024
Dedicated to Arts, sciences, technologies and society, the IMPACT Forum will be back in November 2024 with a simple topic: AFTER THE WORLD. At a time when the whole world is speculating on the nature of the long-awaited “next world”, IMPACT is taking history in the opposite direction to situate ourselves “after the world”, in the prospect of the exploration of possible futures. This year, the festival will focus on South Korea, with an emphasis on its dynamic artistic scene, in collaboration with the SPAF (Seoul Performing Arts Festival). We invite you to rediscover your sense of wonder, to be swept along by the vibrations of sensory worlds, to reimagine, together, the “World After” as the moving destination of our deepest desires.
